Beautiful Feet, Soggy Towels

The basin and towel are fast becoming a Cameroon Mission tradition. On Friday morning of the Pastors' Retreat, at the conclusion of the closing worship service, the pastors wash each other's feet before they leave. The ritual is simple, but beautiful and meaningful. It was Jesus' command to us, that we follow his example, in humility and service.

Pastor David Njie, Bova I UMC, washes the feet of a colleague with reverence and in quiet.

Rev. Jan Davis, Christ UMC, Plano, Texas, gave the closing sermon before the footwashing service. She encouraged the pastors to consider that they were receiving "new shoes" for the work ahead of them.

English-speaking pastor, Sampson Ashu, Horeb UMC, washes the feet of French-speaking pastor, Jean-Blaise Bikoy, Bethesda UMC.

Pastor David Sen, John Wesley UMC, washes the feet of Pastor Rosalie Nzie, National Women's Coordinator/Prison Minister.
