Methodist Women, Rise and Shine!

The second UMW National Convention of Cameroon took place over the weekend at Mt. Febe Monastery, Yaounde. The secretary of the National Bureau, Eugenie Boula, here welcomes the participants and introduces the convention's theme, based on Isaiah 60:1 : "Rise and shine, for your light has come!" And, yes, that's a picture of the Pope on the wall behind ... we hope he approved of the meeting, too.

Earlier in the week, Pastor Rosalie Nzie had been named Coordinator of the Women's Desk for the Cameroon Mission. Beginning January 1, 2007, she will move from her appointment as co-pastor of John Wesley UMC to a desk at the Mission Office, where she will manage and oversee the work of the UMW.

Three members of the National Bureau collaborate on the agenda. From left to right, Eugenie Boula (secretary), Pauline Ntui (president), and Hermione (vice-president).

Each church in the Mission sent a delegation consisting of the local UMW president, secretary and the pastor's wife. This woman is the mother of Pastor Samuel Egbe in Mamfe, as well as an active member of UMW.

The delegation from Sion UMC, Obala, lead the group in singing during a break in the reports.

Baby "Ginger Cooper" plays on the veranda outside the meeting area. Yes, that's really her name. After Ginger's visit to the Southwest earlier this year, a young mother decided to name her baby after her.
