Speaking in Cameroonian Tongues -- Day 15

French Word of the Day: kif-kif (pronounced like “keef-keef”); means something similar to “it’s all the same,” or 50/50.

Face of the Day: Sampson Ashu, pastor of Horeb UMC, Douala: Pastor Sampson is an entertaining personality! Recently, the Mission received money to purchase motorbikes for some pastors, and we decided that Pastor Sampson needed one. He was so excited about his motorbike, that, when he received it, he would hardly touch it! In fact, he was so afraid that someone would try to steal it, that he put it on his bed and left it there for three nights, sleeping on the floor at the entrance to the room! Finally, he got up the nerve to start using it …

Cameroon Fact: There are over 250 languages and 24 major language groups in Cameroon, even though the two “official” languages are English and French. I’m struggling to master just those two …

Mission Challenge of the Day: The truth is … if you really want to be a Cameroonian, you are going to have to visit this fine country. And that’s not impossible. We’re lining up mission teams who will visit over the coming years. Already, we’ve booked a team from Christ UMC in Plano, Texas, and have had strong interest from several other places. Seriously, consider it. You can put your hands to good work, including, but not limited to: construction, medical work, children’s ministry, evangelism, and youth camps. Please contact us if you want to attach yourself to an already-existing mission team.
