Christmas Wish List

I often get asked, “How can we help? What do you need over there in Cameroon?”

I always answer, “Prayer is most important. Whatever you can or can’t do financially or physically, please just keep the Mission in your prayers. Every day. More than once a day – how about unceasingly!”

But there are more concrete ways to help. I have put together this Christmas wish list in case you or your church are interested in helping in a more tangible way.

Here are some items for which you may make financial donations:

• Plastic chairs for village churches ($7 each)
  
• French-language children’s Bibles ($11 each)
  
• Pulpit for Defang UMC ($20)
  
• Altar table for two churches ($40 each)
  
• Communion tableware ($40/set)
  
• End-of-year bonuses for pastors ($100 each, total of 21 pastors)
  
• Signboard for new Yaounde church ($200)
  
• Translation and publication of study booklet, “The Methodist Christian” ($940, for 1,000 copies)

If you would like to make a donation, you may do so in one of two ways: first, you may give through your church. Ask your church treasurer to write a check to The Advance, and write #00344A Cameroon Initiative in the Memo line, plus the specific need you would like for the money to be used. Then send it to: The Advance Office, 475 Riverside Drive, Room 1400, New York, NY 10115. If you give in this way, your church will receive credit for having giving to the Board. Or alternately, you may simply write the check yourself, with the same information in the Memo line, and send it to the same address as above. Churches are also invited to sponsor one of our 20 churches through the “In Mission Together” partnership. This is a pledge of $300 per month, which goes to pastor’s salary and building rent.

A Volunteer in Mission team is coming in February. They will have room to bring some additional items. Here are some donated materials that we could use:

• Church banners
  
• Choir robes
  
• Anything to use in children’s ministry, including but not limited to: puppets, crayons, picture books, colored paper
